Interior Designer

Summary Plans, designs, and furnishes interior environments of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Confers with plants to determine architectural preferences, purpose and function of environment, budget, types of construction, equipment to be installed, and other factors which affect planning interior environments.
- Integrates findings with knowledge of interior design and formulates environmental plan to be practical, esthetic, and conducive to intended purposes such as raising productivity, selling merchandise, or improving lifestyle of occupants.
- Advises plants on interior design factors such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment, color schemes, and color coordination.
- Renders design ideas in form of paste ups, drawings, or illustrations, estimates material requirements and costs, and presents design to plant for approval.
- Selects or designs, purchases and installs furnishings, art works, and accessories.
- Subcontracts fabrication, installation, and arrangement of floor coverings, fixtures, appliances, cabinets, counter tops, accessories, draperies, paint and wall coverings, artwork, furniture, and related items.
- Works with suppliers to develop new and improve existing products.
- Manage product complexities and work with plant to reduce SKU's wherever possible.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Other Qualifications
Must be able to travel up to 100% of the time to manufacturing plants and shows.
