SUMMARY

The Vice President of Purchasing and Procurement is a strategic leadership role within our organization, responsible for overseeing all aspects of procurement and supply chain management. This role is crucial in ensuring that the company's home building activity is supported by an efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality supply chain. The VP will lead the purchasing team, manage supplier relationships, and develop strategies to optimize procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership:
• Develop and implement procurement strategies in alignment with business leaders on supply chain initiatives to grow the business, and identify innovation opportunities within the supply base to lead direct and indirect sourcing and procurement efforts
• Lead the purchasing team in sourcing high-quality materials and services at competitive prices.
• Collaborate with other executive team members to ensure cohesive operations.
• Supplier Management:
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
• Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
• Conduct regular supplier evaluations and audits to ensure compliance and performance.
• Develop new suppliers as needed to support business needs

• Operational Efficiency:
• Oversee the procurement process to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials.
• Implement best practices in inventory management and cost control.
• Develop and maintain procurement policies and procedures
• Develop and maintain metrics and dashboards for functional management and review by senior leadership

• Financial Management:
• Prepare and manage the procurement budget, ensuring cost-effective spending.
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
• Monitor market trends and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.

• Team Development:
• Partner closely with business and operations leaders to translate business strategy and objectives into global sourcing strategy, aligning goals, plans and tactics to drive improved business performance and profitable growth
• Recruit, train, and mentor the purchasing team.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
• Build a culture of accountability and engagement to create a high-performing, globally aware supply management team
• Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to team members.
• Effective communication skills to translate strategy to action for broad employee groups across the organization

• Risk Management:
• Identifies internal and external threats and opportunities, developing strategies to counteract, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of required goods at best value
• Develop contingency plans for supply disruptions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Qualifications

• Education: bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent; ten (10) to fifteen (15) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in purchasing.
• Excellent industry, business and financial acumen especially as related to supply chain and sourcing
• Skilled in influencing, negotiation and problem resolution
• Experience with commercial or residential building codes in the US and Canada preferred
• Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time annually.
